Biography
Fabrizio Paladin (Treviso, 1975) è attore, regista, drammaturgo, insegnante teatrale, musicista e autore del libro Il Teatro e la Maschera (MeF – L'Autore Libri, Firenze, 2008).
La sua ricerca artistica si concentra sulla relazione tra maschera, presenza scenica, improvvisazione e creazione dell'attore. Pur affondando le proprie radici nella tradizione della Commedia dell'Arte, il suo approccio considera la maschera non come la ricostruzione di uno stile storico, ma come uno strumento contemporaneo per lo sviluppo dell'attore, la costruzione del personaggio e la creazione scenica.
Il suo lavoro integra Commedia dell'Arte, teatro fisico, improvvisazione, tecniche di movimento e composizione scenica, con particolare attenzione alla relazione tra azione fisica, intenzione drammatica e verità scenica.
Laureato al DAMS dell'Università di Bologna, debutta professionalmente nel 1998 nel ruolo di Benvolio in Romeo e Giulietta presso il Teatro Dehon di Bologna. Prosegue la propria formazione con Aldo Sassi, Claudio Morganti e Antonio Fava. Collabora successivamente con Fava per circa dieci anni come attore, insegnante dello Stage Internazionale di Commedia dell'Arte e docente presso la Scuola Internazionale dell'Attore Comico di Reggio Emilia.
Nel corso della sua carriera dirige, interpreta e produce numerosi spettacoli presentati in Italia e all'estero, tra cui Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde, The Strange Show, Niente di Privato – Omaggio a Giorgio Gaber, O Spettacolo. Morto de Fome e Sono, Pleno d'Amor, The Exhausting Affairs of Love, Hamlet Routine, Il Tragicomico Equivoco e Il Mestiere della Commedia dell'Arte, rappresentati in Italia, Austria, Germania, Slovenia, Lettonia, Ucraina, Ungheria, Spagna, Portogallo, Israele, Kuwait, Libano, Tunisia e Stati Uniti.
È stato consulente artistico e traduttore per Carlo VS Carlo di Aaron Cromie e The Blue Monster di Carlo Gozzi, entrambi diretti da Aaron Cromie e prodotti presso l'Arts Bank Theatre di Philadelphia in collaborazione con la University of the Arts, dove ha inoltre insegnato movimento scenico e tecniche di improvvisazione.
Dal 2000 insegna tecniche di movimento, improvvisazione, Commedia dell'Arte e teatro fisico presso scuole, università e centri di formazione professionale in Europa, Israele, Tunisia, Kuwait e Stati Uniti, tra cui Celebration Barn Theatre (Maine), University of the Arts (Philadelphia), Bates College, Bowdoin College e Actors Movement Studio (New York).
Dal 2016 collabora con il Ministero degli Affari Esteri e con gli Istituti Italiani di Cultura per la diffusione della Commedia dell'Arte attraverso workshop e spettacoli internazionali.
Tra i riconoscimenti ricevuti figurano il Premio Omaggio a Giorgio Gaber (2004), il Premio Internazionale Calanchi per Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde, The Strange Show, la nomination come Miglior Attore al Roma Fringe Festival (2015) e il primo premio alla rassegna Stazioni d'Emergenza con Hamle-tronic. Hamlet Routine in musica elettronica (2016).
Parallelamente all'attività teatrale, è autore e musicista. Ha vinto ArezzoWave e il Premio Omaggio a Giorgio Gaber ed è stato finalista al Premio Fabrizio De André.

Fabrizio Paladin is an award-winning actor, director, playwright, theatre teacher, musician and author from Treviso, Italy.
His artistic research focuses on the relationship between mask work, physical theatre, improvisation and theatrical creation. While rooted in the tradition of Commedia dell'Arte, his approach views the mask not as the reconstruction of a historical style, but as a contemporary tool for actor training, character development and performance creation.
A graduate of the University of Bologna in Literature, Philosophy and Performing Arts (DAMS), Paladin has developed an international career as performer, director and teacher. He has taught workshops and masterclasses in Commedia dell'Arte, physical theatre, improvisation and slapstick comedy throughout Europe, the Middle East and the United States, including engagements at Bowdoin College, Bates College, the University of the Arts (Philadelphia), Actors Movement Studio (New York City) and Ohio Northern University.
From the early stages of his career he trained with leading Italian theatre practitioners, including Aldo Sassi, Claudio Morganti and Antonio Fava. He later collaborated with Fava for approximately ten years as an actor and teacher, before developing his own independent approach to actor training and theatrical creation.
Paladin is the author of the book Il Teatro e la Maschera (The Theatre and the Mask), published in Italy in 2008. His work has been featured in Commedia dell'Arte: Voci, Volti, Voli (Moretti & Vitali, 2015), edited by Fausto Sesso.
His theatre productions have toured internationally and include Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: The Strange Show, Hamle-tronic: Hamlet Routine, The Exhausting Affairs of Love, The Tragicomic Misunderstanding, Nothing Personal – A Tribute to Giorgio Gaber, The Craft of Commedia dell'Arte and O Spettacolo – Morto de Fome e Sono, Pleno d'Amor.
His production Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: The Strange Show won the International Calanchi Theatre Prize, was selected for the Rome Fringe Festival and became the subject of an academic thesis at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. For the same production, Paladin received a nomination for Best Actor at the Rome Fringe Festival.
In 2016 he won the Grand Prize at the Stazioni d'Emergenza Festival for New Creativity with Hamle-tronic: Hamlet Routine in Electronic Music, presented at Teatro Galleria Toledo in Naples.
As a dramaturg and translator, he collaborated on Carlo VS Carlo and The Blue Monster, directed by Aaron Cromie and produced in association with the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
In 2025 he appeared as Gino in the television series Maigret directed by David Evans and in The Entertainment System Is Down, directed by Ruben Östlund.
Alongside his theatrical work, Paladin is also an accomplished songwriter, harmonica player, singer and guitarist. He is the recipient of the Giorgio Gaber Prize and the Arezzo Wave Award and was a finalist in the Fabrizio De André Songwriting Competition.
